M2 (UNS T11302) is a Molybdenum type of high-speed tool steel. It has good wear resistance and hardness, has been usually used to manufacture a variety of tools, such as drill bits, taps and reamers. Its decarbonization sensitivity is a little bit high. After heat treatment, its hardness is the same as T-1, but its toughness and thermoplasticity are higher than T-1 by 50%.
