ASTM 1070 is a type of non-resulfurized carbon spring steel, its fatigue strength can be similar to alloy spring steel in the same configuration. After heat treatment or cold work hardening, the steel is higher strength, hardness and elasticity, cold deformation plasticity is low, but the weldability isn’t good, generally for oil quenching, large cross-section parts with water quench oil cold or normalizing hardening, used in the manufacture of spring, spring coil, all kinds of the washer, clutch, and manufacturing of general mechanical shaft, roller, eccentric shaft, etc.
