As the name implies, people called the steel tube or pipe used for mechanical applications mechanical tubing, sometimes the steel pipe for structural applications also be referred to as the mechanical tubing. It is characterized by high precision, smooth internal and outside uniformity, high strength, high-pressure resistance, low cost and long service life, can be used for various complex and deep machining processing, provide a wide range of both structural and non-structural applications. It was produced from low carbon steel, high carbon steel and alloy steel.

Treatment of Mechanical Tube
Mechanical tubes are generally made for hot rolled and cold rolled. The hot rolled mechanical pipe has lower hardness but better machining performance and rough surface compared with cold-rolled pipes. The cold-rolled mechanical tubes provide high hardness and yield strength, generally requiring pickling which can remove oxide skin and make the tubes smoother, smaller wall thickness and higher accuracy. Common heat treatments for mechanical tubes are annealing (A), normalizing (N), quenching + tempering (QT), stress-relieving or full annealing (SR).
Applications of mechanical tubing
The mechanical tubing can be used for both mechanical and structural applications sometimes, especially in the field of automobile, agricultural, building, construction, machinery and other more. The typical used are a playground and recreational equipment, carports, greenhouse, cars, bicycles, conveyor rollers, carports and metal buildings, trailers, appliances .furniture, storage racks, machine components, fences and other mechanical and structural parts.
At Wiho metals, our mechanical tubing is manufactured to typical Mechanical tube properties or in accordance with ASTM A500, A513 Types 1, 2 and 5, A519, and equivalent specifications. For round tubes, the outer diameter of the hot-rolled seamless mechanical pipe ranges from 3″ to 10″ and the cold-rolled seamless mechanical pipe ranges from 0.499 ” to -12″. The hot rolled ERW Welding mechanical pipe is range from 1/2 ” x .065″ to 15″ x 1/4″ W, the cold-rolled welded mechanical pipe is 3/8 “to 12”.
